Marble has a unique translucent nature and pearly lustre and no other material suggests elegance like marble. Generally marbles have a fine grain but some larger grained ones are available.
Marble similar to limestone is formed of calcium carbonate and are therefore sensitive to acid attack. Marble is also relative soft making it sensitive to scratching and surface wear, which must be taken into consideration for the intended job. The use of textured finishes in high traffic areas is likely to go smooth over time and marble on bench tops are likely to obtain scratches from knives and lose there polish.
